Europe to Kazakhstan Freight Forwarding

Trusted Europe to Kazakhstan shipping with all-inclusive rates

The European Union is Kazakhstan's largest export market and its third-largest source of imports, and what comes east is high-value: industrial machinery and production lines, food-processing and packaging equipment, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and branded food and beverage for Kazakh retail. The routing question is the interesting part. Rail from Central and Northern Europe reaches Kazakhstan in a fortnight or so; the Middle Corridor across the Black Sea, the Caucasus and the Caspian avoids Russian territory entirely; and road linehaul remains the practical answer for part loads and for equipment that will not tolerate repeated handling.

AGF Advantage on This Lane

AGF already operates European origins — Germany, Belgium and Spain are established lanes for us — so the export side of this corridor is familiar ground rather than a new relationship. What we add for Kazakhstan is the destination end: EAEU customs, EAC conformity certification, and the routing judgement about whether your cargo should go by rail, by Middle Corridor multimodal, or by road. For capital equipment we handle the part most forwarders quietly leave to the buyer — out-of-gauge planning, flat-rack and breakbulk loading, rigging at destination, and the documentation that a customs officer needs to see for a production line arriving in eleven pieces.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does shipping from Europe to Kazakhstan take?
Rail from Central and Northern Europe to Almaty typically runs 15-25 days door to door. Middle Corridor multimodal — road or rail to a Black Sea port, sea to Georgia, then across the Caucasus and the Caspian — usually takes longer, roughly 25-40 days, and varies with ferry availability at Aktau and Kuryk. Road linehaul is competitive for part loads and for direct delivery away from rail terminals. Air into Almaty is 3-6 days.
What is the Middle Corridor and should I use it?
The Middle Corridor, formally the Trans-Caspian International Transport Route, runs from China and Central Asia through Kazakhstan, across the Caspian to Azerbaijan, then through Georgia to Türkiye and Europe. It is the routing that avoids Russian territory, which is why volumes have grown sharply since 2022. It is a genuine option and we book it — but it is honestly still the more constrained of the two, with limited ferry capacity across the Caspian and more handoffs than a single rail routing. We recommend it when the routing requirement justifies the trade-off, and say so when it does not.
What customs and certification applies to EU goods entering Kazakhstan?
The EAEU common customs tariff applies at the external border, plus Kazakh import VAT at 12%. Most industrial machinery falls under the EAEU technical regulation on machinery safety and needs EAC certification; food and beverage falls under the food safety and labelling regulations, which require Kazakh and Russian language labelling; pharmaceuticals and medical devices have their own registration regime, which is slow and should be started long before the goods ship.
Can you handle oversized machinery and production lines?
Yes. Out-of-gauge cargo on this corridor needs planning rather than improvisation: flat-rack or open-top loading, route surveys where road legs are involved, and lifting arranged at destination in advance. We plan the loading with the manufacturer at origin, because the decisions that make a machine shippable — how it is split, crated and secured — are made at the factory, not at the border.
