Taiwan to USA Freight Forwarding

Trusted Taiwan to USA shipping with transparent door-to-door quotes

Taiwan's exports to the United States hit a record in 2025, driven above all by servers, graphics cards and other computer hardware, and behind that boom sits a deep base of manufacturers whose products fill containers: machine tools, fasteners and hand tools, bicycles and e-bikes, auto parts, and plastics and chemicals. Kaohsiung in the south is Taiwan's largest container port, Taichung serves the machine-tool and bicycle makers of central Taiwan, and Keelung and Taipei Port serve the north, with Taoyuan airport carrying much of the high-value electronics. Since 24 July 2026 most goods from Taiwan carry a Section 301 tariff that brings the total duty up to the lower of that action's two levels — the same tier as the European Union — while computers, servers and most chips are exempt. Goods under Section 232 pay their own rates instead, and antidumping orders cover Taiwanese steel nails, threaded rod, corrosion-resistant steel and tires.

AGF Advantage on This Lane

We work through WCA partner agents in Taiwan; AGF has no office there. Our partners collect from factories across Taiwan, handle export customs and load containers, including e-bikes, which ship as dangerous goods. AGF books the ocean or air freight as an FMC-licensed NVOCC and files the ISF at least 24 hours before loading, and our licensed customs brokers file the entry, checking each line for Section 232 status, the Section 301 exemptions and any antidumping order. Our Glendale headquarters is close to the ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach, where partner facilities devan machine tools, steel products and bicycles for trucking or rail delivery to any state. Our office in Foshan, China, knows the supply chains behind many components, so we ask the origin questions before booking, not after CBP does.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does shipping from Taiwan to the USA take?
From Kaohsiung, sailings to Los Angeles or Long Beach take roughly two to three weeks, depending on the service and whether it calls at other Asian ports first; cargo from Taichung or Keelung may connect through Kaohsiung or another hub. To the East Coast, plan on about four to six weeks to New York, or compare West Coast discharge plus rail. We confirm the sailing and the door-to-door transit for each booking. Factories close for Lunar New Year, and typhoons in summer and early autumn can shut ports for a day or more.
What is the import tariff from Taiwan to the USA?
Since 24 July 2026 most goods from Taiwan carry a Section 301 tariff that brings the total, including the normal (MFN) duty, up to the lower of the two levels in that action; where the normal duty is already at or above it, nothing is added. Computers and servers, their parts, most semiconductors and a short Taiwan-specific list are exempt. Goods under Section 232 sit outside that layer: steel, aluminum and copper products pay on their full value at the rate set for their tariff line, Taiwanese auto parts and wood products have carried a reduced cap since May 2026, and a narrow Section 232 tariff covers certain advanced AI chips, including in servers and boards, unless an exemption such as US data-centre use applies. Antidumping orders add their own duties, and a Section 301 excess-capacity investigation that includes Taiwan is still open. Our licensed customs brokers confirm the total for your HS code at quoting.
Do fasteners and steel nails from Taiwan carry extra duties?
Often, yes. Steel screws, bolts and nuts, and some kinds of nails, are on the Section 232 steel derivative lists; since April 2026 that tariff is charged on the full value at the rate set for the tariff line, and those goods sit outside the Section 301 layer. Steel nails from Taiwan have also been under an antidumping order since 2015, now in its second five-year review, and carbon and alloy steel threaded rod since 2020. Antidumping rates differ by manufacturer, and fasteners made in China and repacked or relabeled in Taiwan remain Chinese, with China's duties and penalties attached. Our licensed customs brokers check the scope and the deposit rate before you order.
How do you ship bicycles and e-bikes from Taiwan?
In containers, boxed and floor-loaded or palletized. Pedal bicycles ship as general cargo. E-bikes with the battery fitted are dangerous goods at sea: under the IMDG Code amendment that became mandatory on 1 January 2026 they ship as UN3556, vehicle, lithium-ion battery powered, while spare batteries ship as UN3480 and batteries packed with the bike as UN3481. Each battery design needs a UN38.3 test summary, and the carrier has to accept the booking. On the US side, bicycles must meet the CPSC bicycle requirements, the duty depends on the HS line, and frames, motors or batteries made in China raise origin questions we check before booking.
Are goods from Taiwan with Chinese components treated as made in Taiwan?
Only if they were substantially transformed in Taiwan — made into a new article with a different name, character and use. Packing, labeling or light assembly of Chinese parts is not enough, and antidumping and countervailing duties on Chinese products can follow Chinese inputs into goods finished in Taiwan. CBP investigates evasion under the Enforce and Protect Act, and false origin claims are penalized under 19 USC 1592. Taiwan enforces from its side too: its economics ministry has acted on more than 200 cases of suspected false origin on US-bound goods, keeps a watchlist of high-risk exporters and has raised the fines. We ask the origin questions before booking.
Who handles the Taiwan side of my shipment?
Our WCA partner agents in Taiwan; AGF has no office there. They collect the cargo, prepare the export documents and the export declaration, and load the container or deliver it to the terminal at Kaohsiung, Taichung, Keelung or Taipei Port. We coordinate from Glendale, file the ISF at least 24 hours before loading, and take the shipment through US clearance and delivery. You can verify our FMC licence (OTI #031665NF) before you pay anyone — worth doing on any freight booking.
