China to Vietnam Freight Forwarding

Trusted China to Vietnam shipping with transparent door-to-door quotes

Manufacturers building or expanding production in Vietnam need what Chinese suppliers make: machinery and complete production lines, moulds and tooling, fabrics, yarn and trims for garment and footwear factories, and the components that feed electronics and machinery assembly. This lane carries those factory inputs. The fastest route to northern Vietnam is by road — Foshan to Hanoi takes 2-4 days by truck through the Youyiguan (Friendship Pass) crossing into Lang Son, or through Dongxing into Mong Cai — and it serves the industrial zones around Hanoi, Bac Ninh and Hai Phong. Southern factories in Ho Chi Minh City (including the Binh Duong area) and Dong Nai are usually better served by sea from Nansha or Shekou. We present this lane for what it is: the supply side of real production moving to Vietnam. It is not a way around US tariffs on Chinese goods, and we do not offer it as one.

AGF Advantage on This Lane

This is the one Vietnam lane where AGF has its own office at origin. Our Foshan team works with your Chinese suppliers directly — collection, consolidation of several suppliers into one truck or container, loading supervision, export customs and the Form E certificate of origin that Vietnamese customs needs for China–ASEAN preferential duty. In Vietnam we work through WCA partner agents, who handle the import declaration, duty-exemption paperwork for export-processing and investment projects, and delivery to the factory gate; AGF has no office in Vietnam. Because we also run the Vietnam to USA lane, we can say plainly where the origin lines fall: inputs for genuine manufacturing are routine, while cabinet and furniture components shipped to be finished in Vietnam and sold to the US as Vietnamese are exactly what the China antidumping orders on wooden cabinets reach — we decline that cargo.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long does shipping from China to Vietnam take?
By truck, Foshan to Hanoi takes 2-4 days through the Youyiguan–Huu Nghi crossing at Lang Son or the Dongxing–Mong Cai crossing, depending on border queues and the customs mode. By sea, South China to Hai Phong or Ho Chi Minh City is a short sailing, but the total depends on the vessel schedule, so we confirm it per booking. For northern factories the truck usually wins; for the south, sea freight to Cat Lai or Cai Mep is normally the better option.
Can I move my factory's machinery from China to Vietnam?
Yes, with one rule to check first: Vietnam restricts imports of used machinery and generally requires it to be no more than 10 years old and to meet Vietnamese technical and environmental standards, with longer limits in a few sectors and an approval route above them. New machinery is not age-limited. We check the age and documents for every machine before it is dismantled, because a machine refused at the border has already been packed, shipped and paid for.
What import duty does Vietnam charge on goods from China?
Chinese-origin goods with a Form E certificate of origin can claim the preferential rates of the ASEAN–China Free Trade Agreement, and VAT applies on import. Inputs for export production and equipment for qualifying investment projects can be duty-exempt if the right registrations are in place before the goods arrive. The importer's customs agent in Vietnam — our WCA partner, or yours — confirms the rates and exemptions for each HS code.
Does producing in Vietnam avoid US tariffs on Chinese goods?
Only when the product is genuinely made in Vietnam, and then it pays the duties on Vietnamese goods. For US customs, origin is the country of last substantial transformation: a garment sewn in Vietnam from Chinese fabric is normally Vietnamese, but a Chinese product repacked or lightly assembled there is still Chinese. Chinese components can also bring China's antidumping and countervailing duties with them — wooden cabinets and vanities are the clearest example — and CBP enforces this through EAPA investigations and penalties. We carry inputs for real manufacturing, not shortcuts.
Who clears customs in Vietnam?
The Vietnamese importer of record — usually your Vietnamese company or the factory — declares the goods on Vietnam's electronic customs system, and the licences and exemptions are in its name. Our WCA partner agent in Vietnam prepares and files the declaration, and our Foshan office makes sure the commercial invoice, packing list, Form E and technical documents match before the truck leaves China.
