Regulations and Compliance
FDA laser product certification (21 CFR 1040)
This is the one that surprises people. Laser cutting and marking machines are electronic radiation-emitting products: the manufacturer must certify compliance with the federal laser performance standard, the product needs correct labeling and safety interlocks, and reporting obligations apply to the responsible party. Buying from an exporter who already handles US laser compliance is dramatically easier than discovering the gap at entry — we raise this before you order.
NRTL field evaluation and electrical specification
As with all Chinese machinery, control panels built to domestic Chinese practice frequently fail US inspection. Specify UL 508A-style panels and your correct voltage and phase at purchase, and budget for a UL/ETL field evaluation where your jurisdiction requires it.
OSHA guarding and ANSI B11
Press brakes and forming machines carry serious guarding obligations (light curtains, two-hand controls, point-of-operation safeguarding) under OSHA, with ANSI B11 as the reference standard. Order the machine with compliant safeguarding rather than retrofitting it after an inspection.
Fume and dust extraction
Laser and plasma cutting generate fumes and particulate requiring extraction and, depending on the material, permitting. Plan the extraction system as part of the purchase.
